ALYSSA COSCARELLI PICKS HER FAVORITE BLAZERS FROM NYFW

Alyssa Coscarelli is a freelance fashion writer, style influencer, and consultant in New York City. You may know her better as @alyssainthecity on Instagram where she shares her daily outfits, travel inspirations, and collaborations with brands, as well as her chronicles of life in New York City. She believes in fashion as a means of self-expression and as a reflection of the times, and we believe she’s one of the most modern and stylish women in social media. That’s why we enlisted her help to highlight the best fall blazers from New York Fashion Week, exclusively for the Jewel blog. And the best part is that they will all soon be available from retailers via Jewel.

Read on to learn who Alyssa will be shopping this coming season…

If there’s one staple I hope never goes away despite trends ebbing and flowing, it’s the blazer. It’s the one item I know I always feel my best in, with minimal effort. Fortunately, if NYFW is any indication, we’re in the middle of a huge ‘80s resurgence when it comes to trends, so blazers are a mainstay on the runways — just as they are in my closet for seasons to come. So many of the brands below will be shoppable next season at my favorite Jewel partners, from Bergdorf Goodman to Saks Fifth Avenue to Shopbop. Whether styled over a more casual top or outfitted in the full suit, designers are getting my gears turning on fresh ways to wear my blazers for the spring season ahead (yes, blazers happen to be the perfect spring outerwear in addition to being fall staples.) So, get your notepads ready; ahead, the eight best blazer moments from the week, ranked:

8. Marc Jacobs

Jacobs’ collection this season was all about celebrating the joy of getting dressed, and I know I’d be nothing short of elated to wear a banana-yellow suit like this one.

7. Vaquera

This indie brand doesn’t shy away from oversized silhouettes, and neither do I. That’s why I love this super oversized take on the double-breasted blazer. It’s definitely a statement, but one I support.

6. Dion Lee

Dion Lee also put his signature touch on a classic: The pinstripe blazer. This time, a metallic thread was used for some extra shine — and don’t miss the sheer sleeve detail.

5. Rosie Assoulin

It’s always a plus to see something you’ve never seen before at New York Fashion Week, like a blazer with shoulder cut-outs, for one.

4. Maryam Nassir Zadeh

Cargo pants aren’t the only piece coming back into style. Let’s talk about this cargo blazer. Finally, a blazer with pockets you can actually fill.

3. Tibi

I’m no stranger to shoulder pads, but I love this new take on voluminous shoulders, from Tibi, that’s a bit more rounded.

2. Khaite

Two words: Leather. Blazer.

1. Proenza Schouler

My favorite blazers from the season are hands-down those from the Proenza Schouler SS20 collection, which nailed the ‘80s working-woman aesthetic while still feeling sophisticated and elevated. Many of them were styled to perfection with sharp, black sunglasses and big, gold hoops. The standout was this tuxedo-esque blazer with a contrast collar — a blazer that makes a real entrance.

A big thanks to Alyssa for being our go-to guide to NYFW fashions, including these incredible blazers that we’re absolutely drooling over. We can’t wait for them to hit the stores, so we can start shopping — and start saving by shopping through Jewel.
